SET in STONE EXHIBITION

Part of the

‘SPECTRUM COLLECTION’

An exciting new photography exhibition

in the Tower and Cafe at Oriel y Parc, St Davids

Saturday 12 September – Sunday 2 November 2025

See Pembrokeshire like never before.

SPECTRUM invites you to step into a world where coastlines, gardens, skies, and harbours are transformed through light, colour, and imagination. Photographer Colin Barnett reimagines familiar landscapes using the Sabattier (solarisation) effect — a technique first embraced by the Surrealists of the 1930s. Originally discovered by accident, this process reverses tones and colours to reveal unexpected patterns and dreamlike visions.

In SPECTRUM, the artist has brought this approach into the digital age, Printed on large sheets of aluminium, he has created bold and abstract interpretations of Pembrokeshire that pulse with hidden energy and vibrant colour.

Four themed collections explore this transformation:

  • SET IN STONE – Cliffs and rock formations re-envisioned as glowing, otherworldly landscapes.

  • SEA, SAND & SKY – Vivid abstractions of Pembrokeshire’s coastline, where the familiar becomes extraordinary.

  • ROOTED IN REALITY – A celebration of flowers and gardens, transformed into radiant bursts of colour.

  • BOATS OF SOLVA – The spirit of Solva harbour captured in luminous, dreamlike tones.

Discover Pembrokeshire — reimagined.
Join us at Oriel y Parc for an exhibition that blends photography, abstraction,

and surrealism in a way that will make you look again at the world around you.
